PHILOSOPHY
"We don't think to write, we write what we think"

FOUNDER'S BELIEF
"We think too much." I believe that's what keeps a lot of people from writing. We all have something great and important to share with the world. An experience or story that may mean nothing to you because it's your normal, maybe the story that sets someone else free. Humanity has a lot from which to be set free. The world needs you, the world needs your story, the world needs your experience. All you have to do is write it down. I understand sometimes we don't want to write something and have it end up in somebody's hand and so it kind of make us shy away from writing our thoughts. I suggest if you write something personal like that, until you're ready to publish it, keep it safe. But honestly, I wouldn't worry about that. What's coming out of you is a piece of you, it's part of who you are. I wouldn't be ashamed of it.

I remember when I was sharing my testimony after I wrote my book, What I Gain Through His Pain. As I was about to share the story of my encounter with HIV/AIDS and how I was saved by grace, I suddenly became very emotional to the point I was shaking so much I fell to the ground. When I got home I asked the Lord, "What was that all about?" He said subconsciously I was worried whether I was going to be accepted after I let that information out. Needless to say, the listeners were blessed. Some of them came up to me afterward and congratulated me for having the courage to share the experience. They shared their own testimonies and were happy to buy my book. Personally, I didn't know I cared so much about what people would think if they knew about my taboo experiences. You know what? No matter what, let us rescue the world with our stories. The funny ones and the sad ones. Besides, the funnies wouldn't be funny without the sad ones. You've heard the saying that we wouldn't know the meaning of joy if we were never sad.

PREREQUISITE
The first prerequisite for an author is that s/he must be willing to read other books. It just wouldn't be fair, right? We can't be writing stuff for people to read and not willing to read theirs. Through reading, you will discover your style. Which style of writing based on your personality best suits you? That's important to know, for everyone who is writing. For instance, for me, I have to laugh in my writing. Humor must be all over my work. As a teacher, I do inform in my writing and I'm very bold and persuasive because I like to be right (lol). That's right, I write lol in parenthesis and I would do that in my books too. Although your words should already imply what you're feeling at the moment but for some it may not come across so quickly. So I'm not taking any chances. I understand we have to know who and what category of people for whom we're writing. However, you never know in whose hands your book is going to end up. So we have to be proactive. Write lol in parenthesis and a little "Sad face" here and there if you're feeling happy or sad. Not too much though.  Anyway, that's just me. Everybody has his or her own style of writing. The reason for expressing myself like that in my writing is because I want to be free to express myself in my writing. I need to keep it fun. Keep it real. It's important to me.
